Sport Endurance mountain biking
Doing sport since age? I’ve been a pro athlete for 17 years (or so). Pro cyclist for 7 years.
Proudest athletic accomplishment of 2011? Winning the Leadville Trail 100 for the third time and against the strongest women’s field ever assembled there. I also broke my own record by 16 minutes.
What’s your go-to GU product? Roctane!!!! Gel and drink.
How do you use it? Pour it down my throat and then hold on when the turbo boost lights up.
What characteristics do you most respect in your competitors? Perseverance and the ability to lose gracefully.
Favorite city you’ve raced in? Ketchum, Idaho at the USAC XC Natiionals: one block from my house!!!
Do you have any words of advice, or tips and tricks for aspiring athletes? Work hard and results will follow, choose races and events that inspire you, learn how to lose gracefully and take that lesson with you. It’s fuel for your next win.
Three things people don’t know about you? I was in the marching band, I used to teach aerobics, I’m a procrastinator and kind of lazy.
Top 5 hobbies when you’re not biking? Baking bread and cooking, gardening, although I have a black thumb, cleaning out my gear closets, clothes closets and organizing the chaos in my life, riding my BMW 650 GS with my boyfriend Greg, doing trail work at home.
What personal causes are you involved in? Bike advocacy including the Wood River Bicycle Coalition (our local IMBA chapter), honorary board member of IMBA, advocate for Bikes Belong. I’m also a member of the Ketchum Fire Dept and respond to fire, rescue and EMS calls when I’m home.
