Doing sport since age? 27
Proudest athletic accomplishment of 2011? 7th place ITU Long Course Worlds, and 1st place Calgary 70.3.
Most memorable moment participating in your sport? Undertaking the challenge of my first sprint triathlon. I laughed at myself the whole way to the finish line. It was so HARD!
Plans and goals for 2012? To make Ironman Worlds 70.3 and to compete for the REV3 Series Title.
What’s your go-to GU product? This month it's chocolate mint GU and Grape Roctane Brew Ultra Endurance Drink. (I have to rotate my favorite go-to's.)
How do you use it? I use my GU gels just before I know I have hard intervals coming up. It is like jet fuel being loaded and with it I know I can be stronger, faster and even a little smarter! I never stop using my Brew. It is my steady energy source every 15 minutes.
What characteristics do you most respect in your competitors? There is nothing better than to go up against women who, like myself, have worked hard day in and day out to be the best they can be and are ready to persevere through the physical and mental challenges to finish a race no matter the outcome.
What drives you to keep going? To be the best I can be.
What do you enjoy most about your sport? The unrelenting challenge and learning process about the sport and myself in the pursuit of personal excellence.
Favorite city you’ve raced in? San Francisco, CA.
Do you have any words of advice, or tips and tricks for aspiring triathletes? Enjoy the everyday process and laugh at yourself in your pursuit of being your best.
Three things people don’t know about you? When I was little I wanted to be a figure skater but I apparently lack a certain grace, After a long day I love to listen to CBC radio with a glass of wine and cook a brilliant meal, Other jobs of mine have included being a gas jockey, active travel guide and a business planner for government.
Top 5 hobbies when you’re not swim/bike/running? Traveling, skiing, hiking or kayaking, reading, hanging out with my friends and family, going to live music or dance performances.
What personal causes are you involved in? There are three organizations that I want to do more work with – Finding Life, Shoe for Africa and Right to Play. Each organization has a slightly different focus but they all use sport/active being as a tool for development and education.
