A #motherrunner who likes her endurance sports with a shot of adventure, Dimity McDowell has competed in Ironman Coeur d’Alene, the Pikes Peak Ascent, New Mexico’s Mount Taylor Quadrathlon, among others. McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea are the co-founders of Another Mother Runner, and the co-authors of a trilogy of mother runner books, including Run Like a Mother. She lives, sweats, and writes in Denver with her family: two kids, one husband (a #fatherrunner), and one dog.
The GU Moment
“I was running in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, about 15 years ago, and I was really hurting mentally and physically. I sucked down a GU (probably chocolate) and within a few minutes, I felt so noticeably better, I truly couldn’t believe it. Peppy and positive, which isn’t always my MO.”
- I’ve co-authored three books with Sara Bowen Shea (Run Like a Mother, Train Like a Mother, Tales From Another Mother Runner)
- We’ve created a badass, inspirational #motherrunner movement.
- Completed Ironman CDA in 2013
- Pikes Peak Ascent in 2014
“I talk to my dog all day long—and love it because he thinks exactly the same way I do. (He told me that once.)”
