Luke spent his childhood wandering the mountains, but it wasn’t until he agreed to a really bad bet, which involved a marathon, that he found running. Now, Luke relies on long mountain runs for his everyday connection to the natural world. He strives to maximize each hour by balancing his time as a physician assistant, race director, husband and father.

2017 Goals

2017 is a year of exploring possible. I am looking at several adventures that have me honestly questioning whether or not there is success. This will include linking together long technical ridge lines in Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.

Fun Fact

When I went out for track in Middle School the coach told me to find a different sport, so instead of running I climbed, skied and kayaked. I didn’t actually start running until I was in my late 20’s.

Nutrition Tips

In long races I like to mix two different flavors of Energy Gel in a flask to create different flavors. One of my favorites: Mandarin Orange and Vanilla, it tastes like an orange creamsicle.
