Day 2 of the 2016 TransRockies took runners over Hope Pass at 12,508 ft, the highest point along the 6-day course. The first runners to make it up the pass were the trio of David Laney, Ryan Ghelfi, and Max King. David and Ryan held onto their overall lead with another stage win while Max King did the same in the solo GUrun3 category.

In the coed 6-day race, GU employees Magda Boulet and Brian Gillis finished second in the stage to a dynamic duo from Durango, CO, but they were able to hold on to the overall lead going into day three.
