WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO COMPETE? WHAT'S YOUR WHY?
Running has brought me to some incredible places and allowed me to meet some amazing people. I stay grateful for the opportunities and make sure I'm putting my best effort forward!
WHAT'S YOUR GU MOMENT?
I wasn’t always a runner, and only discovered how fun running can be after I got to college and started using it as a way to explore my new town (Madison, WI). After a year of casual jogging around campus, I signed up for a 2 credit PE class called “Marathon/Distance Running” not having any real idea of what that entailed. On the first day, I learned I needed to complete a marathon to pass the class. This was absolutely crazy to me!! I had never run more than a few miles, but throughout the semester learned about running fundamentals and the importance of nutrition. It was in that class where I learned about energy gels, and soon after I ate my first GU during a class training run back in 2008. I ran my first marathon in 2010 with GU Energy Gels attached to the waistband my running shorts with safety pins. (yes, it took me 2 years to get that first marathon and pass the class!). Since then, GU products have been a staple in my training and racing nutrition.
