– Seeing over 93% of the field finish what they started, despite unusually high temperatures throughout the day.
– Keeping athletes cool along the run course during the heat of the day.
– Learning from Rinny Carfrae how to gracefully make a tough decision and listen to your body. (Rinny was forced to DNF because of back pain from an accident earlier in the week.)
– Cheering for the GU Crew athletes who were competing in Kona for the first-time, especially Annah Watkinson from South Africa who got third in her age group!
– Going crazy for Cherie Gruenfeld during the awards ceremony as she accepted her 13th IRONMAN age-group championship.
– Celebrating with the happy finishers – from the champion all the way to the last person across the line before the cutoff.
– Experiencing the endless enthusiasm of the volunteers on the course… hour after hour after hour.
– Contributing to the magic (and the silliness) of this epic event as the official Gels and Chews sponsor.
