GU Energy Labs is proud to announce that triathlete Sika Henry will be fueling her 2023 training and racing with GU products as a member of the brand’s elite athlete team. Henry has been a powerful force in both her athletic accomplishments and her advocacy for equity in sport. She is the first Black female professional triathlete in the U.S. and it’s her mission to create visibility for Black people in triathlons and push for diversity in the sport. Over the course of her racing career Henry has competed at the Ironman World Championships, Ironman 70.3 World Championships, and running races ranging in length from 5k to 100k.
“I couldn't think of a better company to partner with in 2023,” says Henry. “From GU's wide range of products, and seemingly never-ending selection of flavors, I feel all of my nutritional needs are met as both a triathlete and ultra runner. I am also proud to represent a women-led company that supports charitable causes.”
Henry joins a team of elite GU runners, cyclists, triathletes, fitness trainers, and water-sports athletes. GU Elite Athlete & Community Manager Yuri Hauswald said of the addition, “Sika has been breaking barriers her whole career, so it is my deepest honor to be able to support not only her athletic endeavors but, more importantly, the work she’s doing to make sport more inclusive.”
Henry is currently training for a full 2023 racing schedule, including the prestigious Comrades Marathon in South Africa.
