WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? WHAT'S YOUR WHY?
Through running, I have connected more with my Diné (Navajo) culture which has shaped my 'why'. I was not raised on the reservation or with traditional Diné teachings, and running is one way I have reconnected with my culture. I run to pray, to learn, to heal, to celebrate, to express gratitude, and to honor those who cannot run.
HOW ARE YOU DOING GOOD IN YOUR COMMUNITY?
I have been a Trail Sisters co-leader for several years now and I love helping other women learn about trail running and helping them grow in the sport. Trail can seem intimidating if you don't know the trails or don't feel comfortable exploring them alone. Our local Trail Sisters chapter hosts no-drop runs and hikes each month. The no-drop piece means that we don't leave anyone behind and stay together as a group. The emphasis is on building camaraderie, not pace.
