WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? WHAT'S YOUR WHY? I started running for my mental health over 10 years ago and while that is still an important part of my why, I’m now motivated mostly by wanting to play and discover new things about myself and the world around me. Being in the PNW has opened me up to so many new sports and activities. I want to do it all!
HOW ARE YOU DOING GOOD IN YOUR COMMUNITY?While most of my work centers around community the work I’m most proud of right now is the work that I do as a host of my PBS Show, Out & Back w/ Alison Mariella Désir. I get the opportunity to tell the stories of Black, Indigenous and other people of color who are reclaiming space in the outdoors. It has been such a fulfilling role - allowing me to connect with folks across the PNW, give them exposure and their flowers, and share untold histories of BIPOC in the outdoors. Every season kicks off with a family outdoors fair for people in the region and it truly is a beautiful thing to see the PNW community come together.
